GREAT AMERICAN WOMEN'S SCULPTURE PARK

The Great American Women's Sculpture Park is a vision I've held since 1976. At that time, I completed the first sculpture in the Great American Women Series called "Homage to Margaret Mead". It is my way of honoring achievements of women in this country who have dedicated their life and work to furthering knowledge that benefits humankind.

My purpose is to teach everyone, especially younger women, about the life achievements of Great American Women, giving them role models and encouragement for their own dreams, visions, and abilities, enhancing their stance as powerful independent social contributors.

The overall concept of the Sculptural Park is to find appropriate sites on the land where individual sculptures would be created and installed. Each sculpture will symbolically depict the life of one woman chosen as subject matter by inviting the viewer to participate in the piece, they learn what contribution that woman has made. Each sculpture will be separately placed in its’ own natural park like environment connected by walking paths. In this way people can experience the calming effect of nature as well as learn about the great women who have given so much to humanity.
