The Mixed Series was created to satisfy my love of making collages. These colorful high contrast abstract works on paper are constructed from drawings, monoprints, and collected found materials. The name Mixed Series comes from the merging of the two dimensional media used in many of the other series of my work.
Over the past several years I have created a particular group of prints and drawings to use specially for the mixed series. When I have gathered enough 'raw materials' to initiate a new suite of work, I cut, rip, and tear the material, combining these collected gems with handmade and art papers. Each piece is unique since the method used to produce them can not be repeated. The suites created are always quite different, as it takes two to three years to gather a new 'raw material' inventory, and the materials collected are never the same. In this way the Mixed Series stays fresh, and each time offers me a new challange.
